I had a wonderful stay that was largely elevated by the attentive staff and excellent dining options. though there were a few hiccups with room comfort that could be improved. The location was perfect for exploring downtown San Diego, making it easy to access popular attractions. Overall, I was impressed by the unique amenities, especially the rooftop pool, that added a special touch to my experience.

The Skyline Suite was spacious and beautifully decorated, with lovely balconies. though the bed could have been more comfortable, and I expected more amenities like a refrigerator and microwave. Overall, it was a pleasant place to unwind.

While the restaurant prices felt a bit high, the meals were absolutely worth it. However, there were some minor issues with noise from housekeeping early in the morning that interrupted my sleep.

I had a mixed experience during my stay. While the hotel's location was fantastic for exploring the Gaslamp Quarter, I encountered some cleanliness issues in my room that left me disappointed. The staff were helpful and attentive, which added to the positive aspects of my visit, but overall, the experience didn’t quite meet my expectations.
Rooms

The room was spacious, but I found it lacking in cleanliness. There were hairs left on the toilets, and the bathrobe had a concerning stain. It’s unfortunate because the space felt luxurious otherwise.

My stay at Alma San Diego Downtown was quite enjoyable. The staff was attentive, particularly Robby at the front desk who went above and beyond, ensuring my experience was nice. The room was spacious and offered stunning views, enhancing my time there. However, the area surrounding the hotel was a bit concerning due to the presence of homeless individuals, which detracted slightly from the experience.

I had a mix of experiences during my weeklong stay at the Kimpton Alma. The room I was upgraded to, a 1 King corner Skyline Suite, was beautiful with plenty of space and two balconies, but noise from the outside made it hard to relax. The service varied; the front desk staff was friendly at times, but some interactions felt cold. The location is convenient for exploring the Gaslamp Quarter, but the immediate surrounding area felt a bit rough at night.
Rooms

The 1 King corner Skyline Suite was stunning and spacious, though the noise from the street was bothersome. I missed having a bathtub and found the lack of an iron in my suite a bit unusual.
Service
6.0
Most staff were attentive and friendly, with nice touches like personalized greetings, but I did have a few encounters that felt dismissive and cold, particularly with some front desk staff.
Location
6.0
The hotel's location is ideal for accessing the Gaslamp Quarter, but the two blocks from the main area to the hotel had some uncomfortable vibes, especially at night.
Dining
6.0
I enjoyed the food and drinks at the pool and downstairs cafe, but there were disappointing gaps in dining options during certain hours, particularly on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Facilities
6.0
The rooftop pool and daily happy hour were enjoyable features, though room service was subpar on my last morning, which was disappointing given the hotel's overall standard.
